Salvaging involves the looting and breaking down of ship wrecks for modules and materials. The algos is a decent upgrade compared to the Dojo Salvage Frigates, and remains fully Alpha clone compatible.

Completing a ship's skillplan ensures that you meet the requirements to fit it, and have the necessary support skills to be effective whilst using it.

Salvaging

There are two broad methods of salvaging, and which you use will depend on the environment you find yourself in.

In areas that have a sparse field of wrecks and/or a hostile presence, you may opt for a more active style of salvaging. Here you'll be warping from wreck to wreck, immediately looting and activating your salvagers when landing on each new wreck. This minimizes the amount of time you're sitting in one place, and saves you the wait time that comes with tractor beams. When salvaging in this manner it pays to have a spread of bounce bookmarks several hundred km off the field of wrecks. Note that your align time is between 5 and 6 seconds, making tackle frigates especially dangerous.

If the area you're in has a large amount of wrecks and no hostile presence, for example in a finished ratting site or inactive battlefield, you can afford to use a less action-intensive salvaging style. Drop a mobile tractor unit (MTU) in the rough center of the wrecks, then you can either wait for it to collect the field or salvage wrecks as they come in. In both cases you'll be sitting on the MTU at 0. Make sure to keep an eye on Local and D-Scan so you don't get caught off-guard.

Defensive Capabilities

The Algos is a T1 Destroyer, and almost all of this fit's utility slots are occupied by capacitor-related modules. It has between double and quadruple the tank of the Dojo Salvage Frigates, but that still only amounts to between 5,000 and 6,000 EHP. It does have decent drone capabilities for a destroyer, but at only 80 - 120 DPS they're only useful against small rats. With all this in mind the best defense when flying a salvage algos is evasion.
