How to Set up Our IT Services

<WRAP half column>

IT Services Status From: Yukiko Kami Sent: 2018.05.10 10:58 To: Brave Collective,

Hi all,

I know there has been a lot of turmoil regarding IT services in the last days. We are fixing the problems step by step, so here is a first update.

Mumble + respective permissions should work just fine if you followed the process. Just to make sure everyone knows it I will line it out again real quick:

* sign up on here] * it can take up to an hour before groups are assigned to your after adding your chars, so after you see groups in your account you are ready to go on * Now go to [[https://manage.mumble.bravecollective.com/ | Mumble and login with your main * You should see your mumble credentials, double check those are the ones you use if you get erorrs accessing mumble. (Copy/paste of PW sometimes adds a space to end, so check that if it seems not to work) * Permissions for Fleet channels etc. should be fine

For our new people, Slack signup is repaired and ready for you. Slack is an out of game chat and notification system that we use for important announcemnets, fleet pings and general chat, so definitely get on that one, especially as I will announce more updates on the status of IT in there. You can get on by going through: https://slack.bravecollective.com/ BUT same rules apply as for mumble above, first sign up to account.bravecollective.com and wait until you see groups in your account there before going to the slack sign up.

All other services are in the works, especially wiki and forums access. Everyone with an account from before tuesday should be fine to access the stuff for now, until we switch over but everyone new in brave has to wait until we fixed it, SORRY! That also means help your felllow newbies out, be patient and copy them important announcements or doctrine fits or whatever they might need :)

After the above is fixed we will move on to tertiary services and making things nicer for you (eg. reducing those delays), I will keep you posted.

If something doesn't work at all, sent out of game mail to support@bravecollective.freshdesk.com but answer times might be a bit slow right now due to the high workload.

Last words: IF you cannot access any of the pages above, that is due to an issue with our hoster which is nothing we can fix easily. You can try to switch your DNS to google or cloudflare if you know how to do that (or can google it) or just repeatedly try again. I am reallly sorry about this additional obstacle but we can just hope our provider fixes that ASAP. Again thanks for your patience.

Cheers, Yukiko Brave IT Director

<WRAP alert round> Please do not authorize any applications until your character is recognized by our Core Services as being in a corporation that is a member of the Brave Collective. </WRAP> These applications are essential to participating in Brave events, fleets, and operations. You should set them up as soon as possible after joining.

These are applications that are used on a day to day basis in Brave, and include:

Mumble - This is a voice communication program which allows you talk with alliance mates, organize fleets, and listen for intel about enemy fleets. We ask that you at least be logged into mumble whenever you're doing anything in-game, even if you can't talk or don't have a microphone.

Slack - This is a channel based chat program which is the main place to get fleet notifications, alliance related announcements, ask questions, theorycraft, discuss industry, and chat about all sorts of topics. Head over to #dojo if you have any questions about how to use it. Please don't type in any channel with 'pings' in its name.

Discord - This program is similar to Slack, and is used for coalition level chat, trading and fleet notifications.

These 3 services are the most important to have, and you can find instructions on how to set them up here.

The Brave Collective wiki contains many pages that are only accessible by authorized users, along with some public ones (including the one you're reading right now). Within the wiki you can find guides on many aspects of Eve, player run programs to help you prosper as an Eve Player, along with resources such as fleet doctrine fits. Please click here to authorize the wiki using your Core Services account. After you you have done this, you just have to log in to the wiki using your Core Services account details to view these pages.

The Brave Collective forums are where you can read the latest announcements from alliance leadership and engage in discussions with alliance members. Please click here to authorize the forums using your Core Services account and to read the instructions for using the forums.

These applications can be setup now or authorized as needed.

The Coalition Intel Map provides visual information about the movements of hostile players reported by alliance and coalition members.

BraveBucks is a program which pays you for destroying enemy ships within our space. How much you get is dependent on what you destroyed, how many people helped you, and what system you were in at the time. You can setup BraveBucks here.

The Brave Collective Ping application lets you check pings that have been sent by other alliance members and send your own pings. Please click the Click Here to Authorize button to authorize the ping application using your Core Services account.

The Brave Collective SRP application lets you apply for alliance reimbursement for the loss of your ship when you participate in fleets that are covered by SRP. Please click the Login button to authorize the SRP application using your Core Services account. You can also view the full details of our SRP Program here.

The Brave Collective Timer Board lets you see a list of timers that the alliance might form fleets for. Please click the Click Here to Authorize button to authorize the timer board using your Core Services account.
