Dojo Handouts (Free Ships!)

To support the newest of newbies joining Brave, the Dojo hands out a number of free ships.
At the moment we offer a set of T1 frigates for each race, so no matter what line of ships you started training, there should be handouts available to get you undocked and having fun as soon as possible.
To request dojo handouts please follow this procedure:

  • Ask in the in game chat channel "Brave Dojo" if anyone is available to give some dojo handouts. This results in the fastest service usually, as those responding will be online currently.
  • Ask in fleet chat of standing fleet or on mumble comms. If comms are busy and combat isn't actively going on, feel free to say "check check" to clear comms so you can ask and be heard. Ensuring our friends have ships to fly is infinitely more important than whatever everyone was spouting about anyway. You can also directly address any character in mumble that has the "Dojo Sensei" tags next to their name in mumble. Most of them will be able to help you!
  • If you can't reach anyone in the in game chat or on comms, you may try asking on slack in the #dojo channel. This is less preferred as people there may not be online to help you immediately, but please do so if you can't find anyone in game. You may also use the "+freeships" command in slack and it will normally ping a handful of dojo crew that can help.
  • If, and only if, you have tried all of the above and no one has reached out to you you may reach out to the people in the list below to ensure you get the ships you need.

Remember all handouts are done by real people at the other end of a keyboard. We do our best, but if no one is immediately available please be patient!

The ships on offer broadly fall into the following categories:

  • Exploration frigate - The bread and butter of making isk as a low-SP pilot, these exploration frigates will let you sail around Catch and Impass hacking relic and data sites and scooping their loot. Note that while alpha-clone accounts cannot use the cloak that comes with this fit, these ships are still plenty effective without the cloak.
  • Mining Venture - As an introductory mining vessel, the Venture is great for new pilots to try out mining and see what it has to offer. If there is moon mining available, mining in a venture can also prove surprisingly lucrative for a new player.
  • Salvaging frigate - as an alternative to exploration, these frigates are fit for cleaning up after other players who are ratting. Find a friend with a myrmidon or dominix (or even a capital ship) and offer to help salvage their wrecks for a share of the loot!

If you're unsure how to fly any of these ships, the Dojo provides recordings of classes that cover nearly all of these areas.

Looking for something more advanced? The dojo also hands out some destroyers and cruisers for fleets. Ask your FC if dojo handouts are available! We also offer Newbro Ratting Vexors that you can request with the form on that page.

Exploration is dangerous and you will most likely die a few times, but don't be discouraged, it also is one of the more engaging ways of making ISK in EVE and it pays VERY well even (and especially) when you are new to the game. These exploration fits, like all of the dojo fits, are just a baseline to get you started. You should feel free to upgrade modules as your wallet and SP allow.

This Venture is (or could be) your first mining ship! It doesn't mine as much as a Procurer, but it is cheap and much better at escaping.

The venture is great for moon mining, mining the "ABCs" in mining anomolies, or can easily be re-made for Gas huffing. Join #mining-ops in slack or ask around in Dojo chat where to go mining.

Salvaging is a great way to make isk. After a battle hop in your salvaging frigate and go for the largest, elite, advanced or smaller wreck and make isk! Clean up drones with the nice cargo hold too.

In standing fleet, particularly Impass, you can ask to salvage behind others ratting in their VNI, which can be great isk.

Salvaging is opportunistic, so look for an opportunity, and get rich.
